Hurst Parnell was established in 1929 as one of the first importers and exporters of fresh fruit and vegetables from South Africa to the United Kingdom. Having been established for more than 75 years, the company received a major push into the 21st century when it was taken over in 2003 by Mrs Fransien Van der Merwe and Mr Gerrit Van Der Merwe.
