Dealing
with SPAM [part 2]
In the last issue, we
addressed what to do when you encounter a fraudulent or SPAM
type message in the Worldbid.com community. We would like
to thank the members who have reported abuses and restate
our commitment to providing the best possible service to our
members and to improving the B2B community as a whole.
Several members have
also forwarded SPAM that they received from sources outside
of the Worldbid.com community. Unfortunately, we are unable
to assist with these messages, but would suggest that members
report these abuses to the Email Service Provider and/or Internet
Service Provider [MSN Hotmail, YahooMail, AOL, etc] of the
offending party. Remember to forward a complete copy of the
SPAM email that you received along with a brief message about
your complaint.
Following are the abuse
reporting email addresses for some of the common service providers:
Most Email/Internet
Service Providers generally use abuse@[insert service provider
name here] for reporting purposes, but specifics can be located
on the websites of the providers.

CD-ROM
In the previous issue,
the item on Worldbid.com's Trade Lead CD-ROMs contained a
typographical error. The actual number of days' leads included
is 90 and not 30 as previously stated. The corrected text
is as follows:
Worldbid.com's most
recent trade leads are available on CD-ROM. This database
contains over $10 billion in buy and sell trade leads from
the past 90 days in more than 1,100 industry categories.
As a Worldbid.com member,
you can have this valuable B2B resource at your fingertips
for only $149.99 USD, a savings of $100.00 USD off of the
nonmember price.

Email Trade Notification [ETN] |
|
|
| |
|
Located in the Account
Management section of Worldbid.com, the Email Trade Notification
[ETN] service enables Worldbid.com members to receive the
latest trade lead information direct to their email everyday.
Information is delivered
based on criteria that you select, such as categories/industries
of interest, private and public sector leads and format [digest
or separate mailings]. This information can be modified or
reviewed at any time using the Add, Remove, Modify and Review
links in the ETN section of Account
Management.
The following are brief
descriptions of each the above ETN features and how they can
be put to work for your business:
Add / Remove
These links are used
to add and remove categories from your current ETN subscription
list. You may also enter a separate email address for the
purpose of ETN delivery [note: this secondary email address
can also be modified when you edit your Company Information].
Modify
Features
This link
provides you with formatting options for the ETNs that you
receive from Worldbid.com as well as public/private sector
lead filtering. Currently, you may opt to receive ETNs in
one of three formats: Digest [all categories], Digest [per
parent/top-level category] and Individual [one ETN per lead
as they are approved by our staff]. Public/Private trade
lead filtering options are as follows: US Government, Canadian
Government, European Union Public Sector, African Public
Sector and Private Sector.
Review
This link
provides you with an overview of all currently selected
categories in your ETN subscription list.
All ETNs are sent from
the email address do_not_reply@worldbid.com. This is not meant
to deter you from contacting the organization named in the
ETN. When you use the email link provided in the ETN or use
the REPLY feature of your email client, the correct email
address will be placed in the TO: field [for example: bids.OSabcdef@worldbid.com].
Please note that all
email addresses are masked within the Worldbid.com system
to prevent individuals from abusing the system [ie: compiling
SPAM mailing lists, etc].
Take some time to familiarize
yourself with the Email Trade Notification [ETN] area of the
Account
Management section of the Worldbid.com trade site. It
is one of the most powerful tools available to your business
and can greatly reduce the amount of time and energy spent
on acquiring new trade lead information.

| How
To: Common Member Questions |

|
| |
| Q
|
How
should I respond to a Trade Lead? |
|
A
|
When responding to Trade
Leads, it is important to address the particular needs of
the Trade Lead directly in your response. Failure to do so
causes confusion and may be considered an intrusion.
The following are are
a few suggestions for responding to offers posted on Worldbid.com:
- Include specifics
on your organization's ability to meet the requirements
of the Trade Lead.
- Include detailed
company information in your introductory communication and
ask the same of the person you are contacting. This includes
company history, the markets you serve, products you specialize
in and complete contact information.
- In addition to email,
you may want to use the phone or fax number provided. When
contacting another organization in these ways, it is important
to consider the appropriate country codes, time zones and
language capabilities.
- When contacting a
business from another country, you may want to provide both
an English and a translated version of your response.
- Establish yourself
as a member of Worldbid.com
- Create a Company
Showroom. This is a one page website / online catalogue
where you can maintain a detailed description of your company
and the products you offer.
